Berliner Hochschule für Technik (BHT)

Berliner Hochschule für Technik (BHT) was founded in 1971 as the Technische Fachhochschule Berlin (TFH) when several engineering academies were merged.

In order to highlight the long tradition of the university and the institutions which preceded it, the TFH was renamed as the Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin in 2009. This was to honour Christian Peter Wilhelm Beuth's contribution to industrial development in Prussia and, above all, his services to the training of technicians. It was only later that historical sources emerged that prove anti-Semitic statements and actions of C. P. W. Beuth.

After a university-wide debate, the members of the Academic Assembly voted in January 2020 to discontinue the name "Beuth". As of 1 October 2021, Beuth University of Applied Sciences is called Berliner Hochschule für Technik (BHT).
